reveilles and I tried the chocolate sorbet with orange oil that I made last weekend. I liked it a lot, since it reminded me of Green & Black's Maya Gold chocolate bar, which was my goal. reveilles preferred the original sorbet recipe, which had cinnamon in it, instead of orange.

I tried another recipe from the King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion: Tender Toffee-Chocolate Rounds. Again, another winner. This cookie is very tender, so soft that it almost falls apart when you bite into it. It's also very chocolaty, with some toffee bits to add in a contrast in texture and taste. I'm really liking this cookbook.

Finally, dinner last night was Peanut Vinegar Chicken. This was a great recipe. It was very flavorful -- being sweet, sour, and spicy -- with a contrast in textures -- the chicken was tender but the peanuts provided a crunch. We'll definitely be making this recipe again.

Re: chocolate sorbet

We use a modified version of Emeril's recipe. We omit the cayenne pepper, reduce the cinnamon to 1/4 teaspoon, and add in 1/2 tablespoon of vodka with the vanilla.

For the orange version, omit the cinnamon and vanilla, and use 1/4 teaspoon of orange oil.
