Being at a conference for a week has made me realize how much I enjoy going to the gym. The only exercise I get in Scotland is the 30 minutes walk from my hotel to the conference center, which I am quite grateful for since the hotel doesn't have any exercise equipment. This realization surprises me greatly.
In high school, my least favorite class was gym. I was never a physically active person. Since we had a choice of activities each quarter, I went out of my way to select activities that involved the least amount of sweating and avoided team sports if at all possible.
Now, I go to the gym five days a week. I lift weights and do aerobic exercise and find that I enjoy it. Before I left for Scotland, I weighed 165 pounds. I haven't weighed 165 pounds since I was in high school, 10 years ago.
Unfortunately, I have probably gained weight this week. Besides not getting as much exercise as usual, it has been difficult to find healthy food to eat. I get free breakfast at my hotel. While they have OJ and cereal, my normal breakfast, they only have whole milk. Lunch has been supplied by the conference and has been carbohydrate-heavy with cheese. The snacks at the conference are either butter cookies or shortbread. I actually miss eating vegetables. Hopefully, the farmshare reveilles and I have at Riverland Farm will start next week.
