Yesterday was a fun day for baking. I made
  • Rum Balls

  • Triple-Chocolate Cookies (1 pound of chocolate, 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, 1 bag of chocolate chips)

  • Baklava

Making the Baklava was a challenge because it was the first time I ever worked with phyllo dough for the first time. It was not easy to work with, but learning occurred and it was much easier by the time I was putting the last few sheet into place. I also clarified butter for the first time yesterday and have no idea why I thought that it was going to be difficult.

The only reason he isn't 300 lbs. (as he is fond of saying) is because he evenly distributes the fat molecules among all of his friends and co-workers...

The rum balls were SO GOOD. When he made the batches for Christmas, he made up a Christmas-cookie sampler for my parents. Our families just met last weekend down in NJ, and Jamie mentioned that he was making rum balls for this weekend. At the mention, my mother moaned and said, "Ohh...those rum balls were good..."

I think she's going to like having him as a son-in-law... :)

Ahh Greek food. I LOVE Baklava. After repeated viewing of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and being taken to a Greek festival, I fell in love with the Greek culture and food. Now thinking about this, I have a craving for a gyro....:)

oh wait!
Important question: How did the Baklava taste! I notice nobody said which leads me to believe...well..you shouldn't leave things to my imagination!
