Previous Entry Renewing a driver's license... Sep. 22nd, 2007 @ 07:40 pm Next Entry

My MA driver's license needs to be renewed and they sent me an application in the mail to remind of this fact (very nice of them). But, here is question 2 on the application form:

  • In the past 10 years have you held any class of driver's license in any other state, the District of Columbia, or a foreign country?
    • If yes, where?
    • License Class
    • License #

10 years ago I was living in NJ and had a NJ driver's license. But, I turned it in to the MA RMV when I moved here and have no record of the license number. Who keeps this kind of information for 10 years?? >grumble<

Here, they pick people at random (so they say) to retake the test. My license was due this year too, but all I had to do was go online and pay the fee with a credit card, and answer that no, I was not aware of any reason why the CADMV should be concerned about my ability to drive a car. Two weeks later it showed up, the first time since I got married that my license has my correct address.

Oddly enough, I remember the number of my first license, at age 18, QUITE a while ago: H500356298714. Back in the olden days when people asked for your license number on checks it was useful to know. "your elderly auntie" Jacki
